Energy Transition Norway advances to highest level of Innovation Norway’s cluster programme
Strengthening support for technology development, commercialisation and international growth.
Does your company work with carbon capture, renewable energy or autonomous offshore operations?

Does your company work with carbon capture, renewable energy or autonomous offshore operations? Through Energy Cluster Norway, members of Energy Transition Norway can join GCE Ocean Technology’s resource groups to share expertise, explore new markets and develop collaborative projects.
The collaboration between GCE Ocean Technology, Energy Transition Norway and Energy Valley gives member companies access to a broader national network of expertise, technology and potential partners.
GCE Ocean Technology has three well established resource groups that bring together companies and research communities to exchange knowledge, discuss industry challenges and identify opportunities for collaboration. And they are welcoming new members.
– The resource groups are a great arena to meet and learn from people, companies and organisations facing the same challenges as you do, as well as to set the agenda and direction for the industry, says Jon Hellvang, R&D Manager in GCE Ocean Technology. He is leading the resource group for Remote and Autonomous Operations.

The groups ensure continuity, which is difficult to get by joining stand-alone seminars. They meet approximately six times a year, typically with four digital meetings and two physical gatherings. Meetings last from 60 to 90 minutes and usually feature three presentations from member companies, industry partners or research institutions.
What makes the groups different from regular industry seminars is the opportunity for participants to shape the agenda and build relationships over time.
Members can suggest topics they want to explore, technological challenges they would like to discuss, or companies they would like to learn more about. Physical gatherings often include opportunities to explore industrial facilities firsthand.
So far this year, the Renewable Energy resource group and the SAMvind project organised trips to Fjord Base and Wergeland Base. The resource group for remote and autonomous operations was invited when Equinor demonstrated new technology at NUI in Bergen in june.

– We use dedicated Teams channels and Miro boards to collect ideas and develop the programme based on participants’ interests, explains Atle Dåvøy, Innovation Manager at GCE Ocean Technology, and head of the CCUS and Renewable Energy resource groups.
And it works. The groups have already helped companies connect and initiate technology collaborations. Members have found each other through meetings and started working together on technology development. The groups have also contributed to broader industry discussions.
For example, input from a CCUS resource group meeting helped shape GCE Ocean Technology’s recommendations to Enova on its proposed CCS support scheme.
SAMvind, which addresses collaboration and market opportunities for offshore wind in Vestland, and Test Area Byfjorden, which aims to facilitate testing of remote and autonomous offshore technologies, are examples of projects that have emerged from the meetings.
– But the resource groups are also a place to showcase your company and its solutions, discuss new technologies or simply listen in to stay updated, says Dåvøy.

CCUS – Carbon capture, utilisation and storage
For companies working with or exploring opportunities within carbon capture, utilisation, transport and storage. The group discusses market developments, technological challenges and opportunities across the CCUS value chain.

All three groups are open to employees of member and partner companies of GCE Ocean Technology, Energy Transition Norway and Energy Valley.
You do not need a fully developed project idea to participate. Whether you want to showcase your technology, find potential collaborators or simply stay informed, the groups offer a way to connect with relevant expertise.
