Energy Cluster Norway is bringing together energy companies from across the country for a national cluster gathering at Gardermoen on 18 November. The programme will explore the future energy market, technology development and new opportunities for collaboration. A highlight of the day will be 90 minutes of organised one-to-one meetings, giving participants the opportunity to meet technical decision-makers from some of Norway’s largest energy operators and suppliers – and make new connections across a cluster network of 350 member companies.

Following last year’s successful gathering at Sola Strand Hotel in Stavanger, which attracted more than 100 participants, Energy Cluster Norway (ECN) is inviting the industry to another national meeting place for the energy sector.

This year, we will meet at the Radisson Blu Airport Hotel at Gardermoen, with a compact one-day programme designed to allow participants travelling from other parts of Norway to make the return journey on the same day.

Our aim is to bring together expertise, connect companies and create new opportunities for technology development and collaboration across the energy sector.

What's in it for you? Meet technical decision-makers from Norway's leading energy companies

One of the main attractions of this year's gathering is the opportunity to meet technical decision-makers from some of Norway's leading energy operators and suppliers.

Five of the seven operators represented on the cluster's technical committee will attend: Norske Shell, Aker BP, Repsol Norge, Equinor and TotalEnergies. They will be joined by Aarbakke Innovation and Worley Rosenberg, both members of the newly established suppliers' committee, which will be officially launched at the gathering.

Both committees aim to identify promising technologies, evaluate innovation proposals from luster members and develop new collaborative projects. This is therefore an excellent opportunity to make valuable connections and discuss your technology with potential partners.

We have dedicated 90 minutes of the programme to organised one-to-one meetings, where participants can discuss technology needs, present ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Meeting slots are limited, so we encourage interested participants to register early to increase their chances of securing a meeting.

– This is a rare opportunity to engage directly with technical decision-makers from some of Norway's largest energy companies, says Tor Arnesen, Chair of Energy Cluster Norway.

Representatives from the operators’ technical committee took part in discussions on technology development and collaboration at last year’s gathering.

350 member companies – new opportunities for collaboration

However, the speed networking session is not just for companies looking to meet major energy operators and suppliers.

Energy Cluster Norway brings together the expertise and networks of GCE Ocean Technology, Energy Valley and Energy Transition Norway. Together, the three clusters represent around 350 member companies, ranging from established industrial groups to smaller technology companies, start-ups and specialised suppliers.

There are undoubtedly companies within this network worth getting to know. For many of our small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), some of the most promising collaboration opportunities lie with other SMEs offering complementary expertise.

The organised networking session will therefore give participants the chance to connect with new companies, exchange experiences and identify potential partners across disciplines, technologies and geographical regions.

From the global energy outlook to concrete innovation projects

Before the networking session, the programme will feature presentations and discussions on developments shaping the energy sector.

The day will begin with a look at the future energy market. How are global trends, geopolitical uncertainty and growing concerns about energy security affecting Norway's energy industry? And how can closer collaboration help Norwegian energy companies respond to these challenges?

These questions will be central to the first part of the programme. After lunch, we will turn our attention to concrete opportunities emerging through cluster collaboration.

Programme highlights include:

  • A new technical committee for major energy suppliers: Seven leading supplier companies are joining forces to establish a new platform for technology development and collaborative innovation projects.
  • From idea to innovation project: Oddvar Skjæveland from NORCE will present the work of ECN's technical committee and explain what it takes to attract the interest of major energy operators.
  • International scaling: Owe Hagesæther from GCE Ocean Technology will introduce the cluster's scaling programme at MIT in Boston, joined by Martin Storheim, CEO of Entail, who will share his experiences from the programme.
  • Artificial intelligence in the energy industry: Knut Linnerud from Energy Valley will explore the opportunities AI presents for the sector.
  • Lessons from Denmark: We look forward to hearing from Glenda Napier, CEO of Energy Cluster Denmark, who will share insights from Denmark's experience of bringing its energy industry together under one national cluster organisation – a process that began a decade ago.
