Flex2future AS has submitted its application for EU funding, aiming to demonstrate the Flex2power technology through a pilot plant in Türkiye through a project called Flex2europe.

This modular and scalable floating energy solution harnesses water, wind, and wave power to deliver stable, cost-efficient, and space-saving renewable energy. Energy Transition Norway (ETN) is a key partner in the project, working alongside European industry players to test and develop the technology.

If successful, Flex2europe could receive up to €15 million, with evaluation results expected before summer.

Pilot plant in Türkiye

The Flex2europe project plans to construct a pilot plant at NORSE Shipyard and ICDAS Shipyard, both located along the Marmara Sea near Istanbul. These locations offer quayside access and an established maritime industry, making them well-suited for testing and validating the technology.

European collaboration and further deployment

Flex2europe involves 19 partners from Norway, Spain, Italy, France, the Netherlands, and Türkiye, each contributing to the project over its 4.5 - year duration. In addition to the demonstration in Türkiye, the project will conduct case studies in Norway and Portugal to assess industrial fabrication potential for Flex2power.

Next steps

The project partners now await the EU’s funding decision. If granted support, Flex2europe will take a step toward wider adoption of the technology in Europe, aligning with the broader goal of energy transition and industrial development.

More updates to follow once the evaluation results are announced.
